Guimarães de Mello Portugal, SGPS, S.A. (GMP) notified EDP of the following:> On September 28, 2009, GMP purchased 61,000,000 shares in the stock exchange market, corresponding to 1.668% of the share capital of EDP; > On September 30, 2009, GMP sold 61,000,000 shares in the stock exchange market, corresponding to 1.668% of the share capital of EDP.
Furthermore, GMP informed that it owns 27.51% of José de Mello - Sociedade Gestora de Participações Sociais, S.A., which owns 100% of the share capital of "JOSÉ DE MELLO PARTICIPAÇÕES II, SGPS, S.A.", which in turn owns 100% of "José de Mello Energia, SGPS, S.A.", a company that holds 176,283,526 shares of EDP, corresponding to 4.821% of the share capital.
Following these operations, the total participation attributable to José de Mello - Sociedade Gestora de Participações Sociais, S.A. remains unchanged, representing 4.821% of EDP share capital, which corresponds to 4.868% of the voting rights.
