EDP notifies competition authority about the Alqueva and Pedrógão hydroelectric power facilities

EDP - Gestão da Produção de Energia, S.A. ("EDP Produção") and EDIA - Empresa de Desenvolvimento e Infra-estruturas de Alqueva, S.A. signed, by the end of October 2007, an agreement for the operation and management of the hydroelectric power facilities of Alqueva and Pedrógão and the sub-concession of the public hydro resources to EDP Produção. Pursuant to the execution of this agreement, EDP Produção has delivered today to the Competition Authority a notification of this transaction in accordance with article 30 and following of the Portuguese Competition Law (Law 18/2003 of June 11th). This agreement provides for the regularization of the management of the Alqueva hydro power facilities in accordance with Decree-law n.º 313/2007, of September 17, thereby implementing the historical rights held by EDP Produção in relation to the management of these power plants.
