EDP secures a 15-year PPA for a 297 MW wind project in Canada

Lisbon, September 20th, 2021: EDP - Energias de Portugal, S.A. (“EDP”), through its 74.98% owned subsidiary EDP Renováveis, S.A. (“EDPR”), has secured a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement (“PPA”) with TransCanada Energy Ltd. (“TC Energy”) to sell the green energy produced by the 297 MW Sharp Hills wind farm in Canada, avoiding estimated annual emissions of approximately 700 thousand tons of CO2.

The Sharp Hills wind farm is located in Alberta and is expected to enter in operation in 2023.

With this new agreement, EDP has now 0.4 GW of capacity secured in Canada set to enter in operation from 2021 onwards.

EDP's success in securing new PPAs reinforces its low-risk profile and growth strategy based on the development of competitive projects with long-term visibility.

This information is disclosed pursuant to the terms and for the purposes of the article 17 of Regulation (EU) No. 596/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council and of article 248-A of the Portuguese Securities code.
