EDP launches new brand positioning campaign inspired by the power of the wind
“We are faster with the power of the wind” is the motto of EDP's new institutional campaign, which highlights the crucial role of wind energy in the energy transition.
EDP, a global leader in the renewable energy sector, has launched a global institutional campaign focused on wind energy, a priority for accelerating the energy transition and access to clean and affordable energy around the world. As one of the largest producers of wind energy globally, EDP reinforces with this campaign the importance of this sustainable source for building a totally green future.
The campaign’s institutional film features the inspiring presence of American sprinter Melissa Jefferson, who, at just 24 years old, is emerging as one of the world’s top sprinters. In the film, Melissa sets a new personal record on a track set within a wind farm — a powerful visual that reinforces the message: we are all faster when we harness the power of the wind. Her performance symbolizes the urgency of embracing clean energy in the race toward carbon neutrality.
“As one of the world’s largest producers of wind energy, EDP is playing a central role in the energy transition — not only as a response to climate change, but also as a catalyst for economic and social development. With this new campaign, we aim to highlight the transformative power of wind energy in building a carbon-neutral future. In 2024, we surpassed 12,000 MW of installed capacity and generated over 31,000 GWh of clean energy from wind power. This is the decade of action — a time when every turn of the turbines matters. And it’s with this energy that we are moving forward, together, toward a greener future”, says Vera Pinto Pereira, executive board member at EDP.
Wind energy plays a key role in EDP's global energy mix. Pioneering projects include the Alta da Coutada Wind Farm, EDP Renováveis' largest wind farm in Portugal, with a capacity of 140.2 MW; the Cruz de Hierro project, Spain's first wind-solar hybrid; and WindFloat Atlantic, Portugal's first offshore wind energy project, located 20 kilometers off the coast of Viana do Castelo, which has already generated enough clean energy to supply 25,000 Portuguese homes a year.
Under the motto “We are faster with the power of the wind”, this campaign follows on from the institutional campaign “Believe in the Sun” launched by the company in September last year. Focusing on solar energy, one of EDP's investment priorities worldwide, the previous campaign highlighted how harnessing this energy source can bring tangible and significant benefits to families, businesses and communities.
The wind energy campaign debuts today, April 14, in Portugal, where it will run for three weeks across digital platforms, social media and television. The campaign is also running on digital and social media in some European markets where EDP is present (Spain, Germany, France, Italy, United Kingdom, Poland, Belgium and Denmark).
The creative concept was developed by Havas and the campaign was produced and directed by Garage. Wavemaker was once again the media agency supporting EDP in all the markets where the campaign is running.
