Energy Efficiency Program

Energy knowledge
The Eficiência em Casa campaign was one of the projects supported by EDP Brazil within the scope of the Energy Efficiency Program. The main objective of the initiative was to promote energy literacy among families and institutions.
Teaching to Save
The Energy Efficiency Program (EEP), regulated by the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL), and carried out by energy distributors in Brazil, aims to actively contribute to improving the country's energy efficiency. The projects carried out within this program intend to encourage conservation and rational use of electric energy, as well as to stimulate the use of new technologies.
Reaffirming its commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), defined by the United Nations, EDP has been mobilizing all necessary resources to promote the implementation of energy efficiency projects, contributing significantly to energy savings and the use of renewable sources.
Projects Supported under the Energy Efficiency Program
Despite the diversity and size of the projects, which result in very different outcomes, EDP Brazil has already supported initiatives such as the children's cancer hospital, where the energy efficiency gains were around 50%.
In total, in 2020, EDP Brazil supported 16 projects, which will allow energy savings for the benefiting institutions of about 3,153 megawatt-hours (MWh/year), equivalent to the average annual consumption of approximately 1311 families.
EDP São Paulo supported the Eficiência Solidária project, a mobile service station that invests in raising awareness among residential customers for the efficient use of energy, allowing the exchange of common light bulbs - approximately 40,000 are expected - inefficient, for LED.
In partnership with ENTRAJUDA, EDP carried out the Eficiência em Casa (Efficiency at Home), aimed at promoting energy literacy, which consisted of a donation to this institution and the distribution of 5,000 kits (consisting of an informational brochure and a LED bulb) to some families, through third sector entities partners of the EDP Foundation and ENTRAJUDA.
Additionally, awareness sessions on energy literacy were held for third sector entities so they can provide better support to families in this matter.
