Our business
EDPR entered Polish market in 2008 and today has the second biggest operating portfolio in Poland.
Our area of business are: solar, onshore and offshore.
Solar
Solar energy is one of the cleanest and most abundant renewable energy sources available. Solar power plants, along with other sources of renewable energy such as wind power, do not produce toxic emissions like mercury, smog-forming chemicals, particulate matter, or greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide, NOX and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Utility-scale solar has been generating reliable, clean energy for more than two decades.
Onshore:
EDPR is the world’s fourth-largest wind energy producer and is a global leader in onshore wind farms. The company has been in the sector for more than 13 years and is present in 26 international markets.
Onshore wind farms are infrastructures that produce electrical energy with wind occurring in terrestrial locations. This kind of energy has traditionally dominated the market and is one of the cheapest renewable energy sources.
Offshore:
Offshore farms play an increasingly significant role in EDPR's business, as shown when the company won the auction for the operation of Mayflower Wind - a structure located off the US east coast, with an installed capacity of 2,265 MW, which is expected to start operating at the end of the 2020s.
Additionally, EDPR is also developing offshore projects in US, UK, France, Portugal, Poland & South Korea. In Portugal, the WindFloat Atlantic (first floating wind farm in continental Europe) positions EDPR as a world leader in offshore wind technology and further strengthen the importance of renewable generation in the energy sector.
A floating wind farm is a collection of wind turbines that sit on structures out at sea, allowing them to harness wind resources and generate electricity in places where water is too deep for fixed-foundation turbines. These innovative farms also permit equipment of a standard model and size further lowering product costs.
