The tree that has no light, but gives light
In Alcorriol, a Christmas tree is born equipped with 45 solar panels that capture sunlight during the day to bring the magic of Christmas by night.
Alcorriol - a familiar place
EDP began carrying out volunteer work in the village of Alcorriol in the beginning of 2023. A year later an established relationship with the village and its inhabitants culminates in the construction of the Giving Tree.
With this Christmas campaign, EDP promotes the "Pôr Alcorriol no Mapa" program, which aims to make the village known to the national public.
With this initiative, in addition to bringing magic to a Portuguese village, EDP lights the path to the energy transition, bringing together communities to achieve our biggest goal: producing 100% green energy by 2030. In this sense, after Christmas, the same solar panels will be distributed among families in Alcorriol, helping this village enter the sustainable energy circuit.

Solidarity Solar
In communities that face challenges related to the lack of basic infrastructure, namely community electricity, access to renewable energy is guaranteed. This project is an example of how solar energy can contribute to promoting sustainability and social inclusion in vulnerable communities.
Liter of Light
Installation of solar energy poles in communities not covered by the public energy distribution network. The public lighting solution adopted has already benefited around 1,200 people, with the help of 50 EDP volunteers together with members of the community itself.
ENTAMA
With the aim of supporting sustainable business initiatives that can generate resources, employment and added value in rural areas. This support is not only a lever for recovery from the post-covid-19 crisis, but also a generator of value in the rural world.
